Welcome to the AMATYC Student Math League website for Mt SAC students!
My name is Professor Basilio and I'll be running the competition this year (2025-2026).
This website is a work in progess, but it has a bit of useful information to help students prepare.

What is the AMATYC Student Math Leauge?


Quick Info

None is needed. Just show up to the room 15 minutes before the exam begins. Bring a school ID.
Mt SAC students who have not yet earned their two-year degree. High school students are not eligible for the national prizes or the team score, however, they can take the test and compete for the local prizes. For more details you can read the official rules here.
Students are permitted to use any scientific or graphics calculator that does not have a QWERTY (i.e. typewriter) keyboard.
  • 20 questions, 60 minutes, multiple-choice.
  • Challenging questions.
  • Don't expect to finsih the test.
  • A good goal is to answer 10 correct questions (20 points). To be really competitive, you should aim for 15 correct questions (30 points). It is almost impossible to get 20 correct questions (40 points). Do not guess, leave questions blank.
  • Scoring:
    • \(2\) points for each correct answer;
    • \(-0.5\) points for each incorrect answer;
    • \(0\) points for each blank answer.
